World Health Organization (WHO) in 2023 stated that Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) is deeply ingrained in
many African societies. The practice occurs in 30 African countries with varying prevalence within and across
countries (WHO, 2023).
1. Noticing
It is 8.23 am in Accra, Ghana. You are an RN in the local urgent care, and a 13-year-old female,
walks in with her mother. She complains of difficulty or discomfort walking, standing or sitting.
Complaints of pain between legs.

The vital signs are as follows: oxygen saturation of 98% on room air, heart rate (HR) 122,
respiratory rate (RR) 18, blood pressure (BP) 120/62, and temperature of 40.1 degrees Celsius,
pain 7/10. Upon pelvic examination, you noticed bleeding and puss.
